Vienna to Athens (trough Balkans) motorbike tour
FTH Motors runs the Vienna to Athens motorbike tour, after
the success of Balkans motorcycle tour the predecessor of
this. As many motorcyclists were demanding a more west
European start point like Austria, Vienna, as well as a more
attractive turn back point in South East Europe like Athens
Greece, from 2012 season here it is:
A 12 country (Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia,
Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia,
Hungary), two seashore (Adriatic and Aegean), 14 riding days
adventure, starting and ending in Vienna, incorporating the
whole Balkan peninsula, all the way south to Mediterranean
Greece with its best highlights.
Experience the Vienna elegance and Greek coolness, ride the
territory of past Austro-Hungarian Empire, get insight in
several different cultures and religions (Occidental Catholic,
Islam, Orthodox, Hellenistic, Macedonian, Thracian), go
underground in amazing caves, get to snowy peaks and hit the
Mediterranean seashores, masterpiece highways and narrow
back roads, visit amazing cities, witness the scars of ex
Jugoslav war, than turn back with the winner's triumph in the
city of the Kaiser, after this life changing adventure.
DAY BY DAY
Day 0: Arrivals to Vienna, transfer of rental bikes to start location (hotel in old
center of Vienna), welcome dinner and beer of course.
Day 1: Start from Vienna, ride south to Slovenia’s Postojna cave region, doing a
hard 440 km.
Day 2: From Postojna caves ride out to golf of Trieste (Italy) than Rieka resort.
Taking superb speedways in Croatia, arrive to Plitvice National Park, place with
insane waterfalls and lakes, 260 km..
Day3: Cross the border to Bosnia, after 340 km of magnificent scenery, arrive in
city of Sarajevo (Keeping deep secrets of recent ex Jugoslav war).
Day 4: Leaving Sarajevo, heading to Mostar with its famous bridge, also a hot
spot of recent war, out to the shore of Dalmatia again, and after 270 km arrive to
Dubrovnik (rivaling Venice in the past, still amazing after several tear downs,
called the pearl of Adria)
Day 5: Heading towards by the shore to Kotor bay (Montenegro) than Podgorica.
Riding the most amazing mountain scenery of Montenegro to Berane, 300 km.
Day 6: Berane to Kosovo, gliding trough, and enter Macedonia, arriving to
majestic Ohrid lake’s shore, 390 km.
Day 7: After breakfast in the bed, we start our Greek Odyssey by entering Greece,
using famous highway Egnatia Odos, early arrive to the Meteora region
(monasteries on peaks, unique life style monks), after a visit continue to
Karditsa, 330 km..
Day 8: Karditsa to Athens, including famous Korintos channel, rough 425 km.
Day 9: Resting, shopping, visiting Acropolis and more.
Day 10: Start our ride back using coastal highway, by the end of day we’ll ride at
Mt. Olympos foothills, and arrive in Katerini resort on Aegean shore, 435 km.
Day 11: Heading to Bulgarian capital Sofia, trough the old capital Blagoevgrad
and the most scenic parts of Bulgaria, 360 km.
Day 12: Leaving Bulgaria at Old Mountain National Park and enter Serbia,
heading north to majestic Danube narrows, scenic overload and stop before in
Belgrade, 435 km.
Day 13: Continue trough Serbia towards Vukovar (heavily shelled during war)
and Osijek (still keeping the scars of recent war), best deer perkelt ever in
Osijek! 310 km.
Day 14: Leaving Serbia and enter Hungary, heading to Blaton lake, ferry cross it
to amazing Tihay, continue to Gyor and re-enter Austria, arrival to Vienna.
Day 15: Departures from Vienna.

Trieste on Dalmatian shore, Plitvicka jezera National Park, Sarajevo, Mostar
